Of course it’s important that you hire a competent construction firm, but it was equally important to me to find someone honest…most of you reading this review know that this combination is not easy to find. But I found both of those traits in Michael Bishop. He and his crews not only did an excellent job, but he’s also a man of his word. He finished my large renovation (Kitchen, 3 bathrooms, floors and popcorn removal from ceilings) on time and within budget. Also very important, he makes sure you are happy with everything, and and he is quick to correct the inevitable bumps along the way. I also want to recognize Jonathan for his capable onsite management, for being patient with me – who wants the owner hanging around? 😉 – and for doing all of the final finishing touches. You couldn’t find two nicer guys to work with! I highly recommend Bishop Construction Services and I couldn’t be more pleased with my beautiful “new” home!!!

What more can ? Bravo. Standing ovation High five . BCS remodeled out kitchen and guest bathroom exactly the way my husband and I envisioned. Truth, beyond our expectations. We’ve lived in our homes, east and Midwest during major additions . Anticipating the same for renovation here in our Sawgrass bridge home. COVID came to call. The March day before the demo team arrived I called Michael “I think Gov Santis is going to shut down non essential workers “ My instincts . Never fail. We left in June for our lake home in Michigan. Out of sight , not mind or daily photos and reports from Michael Bishop and his partner Mark Merced . Our Sawgrass community can, as many, be very, I repeat very persnickety. Overtly so. Perhaps reason we are number one in Venice private communities. Bishop got an A on their report card.

We returned in mid October. Thrilled. Bow to stern . The crew cleaned . Very little if any disruption or dust. Just the task of my husband and I unloaded boxes and reorganizing our elegant kitchen. Oh,the new guest bathroom!! Tub out. Stylish new shower, sink, mirror , the works.

My dream. Michael and BCS. Build a small cottage for me. . Never send photos. Or communicate. Call me when done. I’ll show up with my toothbrush, a bathing suit, a kayak and my black lab Alvin ready to hit the lake.

To whom it may concern,

I find it absolutely necessary to write this personal letter on why I believe Michael Bishop and Bishop Construction Services deserves to be Venice’s 2019 business of the year. I had the absolute honor of meeting Michael on April 2nd, when he came to my house along with Lynn Colett to see how he could help my family and I. Prior to Michael actually meeting me Lynn had called and left several messages, with numerous construction companies. Within fifteen minutes of Lynn’s voicemail Michael returned her call and said that he needed to be a part of what she was doing. To date (April 25, 2019) Michael is the only contractor who has returned Lynn’s call for help. I couldn’t have fathomed how meeting Michael was going impact and bless my family and I’s life the way it has. At our initial meeting I think I cried at least twice, not only was this man wanting to fix a major issue with my house in order to help me get into the perfect home for my disabilities. He wanted to donate his services and do everything he could to get other trades and suppliers of materials to do the same (which he accomplished). I still feel so humbled and blessed by this outpouring of love and generosity. I really couldn’t grasp the magnitude of what was happening. I mean I just met this man 15 minutes ago and he wants to help me in a way that is indescribable. You see I am a legally blind disabled veteran and have been trying to sell my house in Venice Gardens for 83 days, so I can close on our new home that suits my disabilities, and will allow me freedoms that I haven’t had in over a decade. Throughout the process Michael was able to move mountain after mountain. He was able to get the permit which normally takes 6-8 weeks in less than two hours. He and his project manager Mark Mercer personally came each day to do the labor, and on days they were not here working they would either stop by or call. They started the demolition and framing the next day after receiving the permit. The following day he had electrical here and so forth each day. When I say that Michael was here or called us everyday it wasn’t just about the project he genuinely wanted to see how we were doing (and still does). All in all he somehow amazingly finished our remodel in less than 2 weeks of meeting him while still not only allowing us to do showings throughout the remodel, but doing his best to keep it show ready while doing his work. The remodel included building two walls, hanging two sets of special ordered French doors, electrical work, new smoke and CO2 alarms throughout, drywall, paint, and tile work. As if all of this wasn’t humbling enough for my family and I we found out that Michael didn’t want to stop at helping us. See a United Way fund was put in place to help with the financial loss we are going to take and any money left over will be transferred to a fund to help other local veterans in the future. When I found this out I had told Michael my plan to start an annual fundraiser to make sure that the fund always had enough money to continue to help other veterans and first responders. Immediately with his infectious smile Michael said count me in, I want to help you keep this going. Michael Bishop is so much more than a business owner, he’s what embodies everything great about our community. I volunteer as a Downtowner and I always get to brag to our visitors about how amazing our community is, and it’s because of people like Michael Bishop! In my honest opinion it would be a disservice to our community if we don’t recognize our local gems and Michael Is a diamond! I implore whoever reads this letter to please vote Michael Bishop Construction Services Venice’s 2019 Business of the year. We are truly blessed to have such a wonderful person representing our community. Heck in my opinion he could easily be man of the year.

We hired Michael to replace a window with a door and pour a concrete patio slab; update our kitchen with a new island; and renovate our master bathroom. Our renovations entailed new cabinets, granite, plumbing, electrical, tile and drywall work. His team is excellent and everyone really took great care of our home during the process.

We recommend him highly. He is a great communicator, his price never changed from the original estimate, his quality of work is outstanding and his pricing was in line with or better than other estimates we received. He stuck perfectly to the schedule and actually finished earlier than expected.

On top of all of that, he is one of the nicest guys you will meet. We have only positive things to say about our experience. Hire him if you need something done. He is excellent!

Michael Bishop is the only contractor I’ve known that did what he said he would do. That’s Big. He called when he said he would, kept the project on time, and always checked in to tell me what was going to happen next. That’s better. He took his own time and checked to make sure that everything was back as before. That’s best. When I asked questions about other things I wanted to do, he freely gave advice. He’s a friendly above and beyond kind of guy. I will recommend Bishop Construction and use him again.

We met with Michael while we were finishing up the legal aspects of inheriting my parents’ home. We made the trip down to FL and met to discuss the scope of work and what we wanted. Michael brought in his subcontractors to meet with us and help ensure we were all on the same page. We were very happy with his proposal and understanding of our needs. Throughout the project Michael kept us up to date with phone calls and photos of the progress. We were able to use real time video to do the final walk-through and close out. His work was excellent and communication made us feel very comfortable with the whole process.

We where very please with his work and professionalism. The work was done on schedule. I will definitely hire him for future projects.

His crews were clean, respectful and prompt. Mike kept us informed every step if the way. He is enthusiastic and professional which are good traits when deciding on a contractor. He set a time line on everything and with a small exception was spot on. His prices are fair and there were no surprises. I will definitely use him in future projects.

We had a support column on our pool deck that deteriorated quickly, and before we realized it was an emergency. We contacted Bishop Construction Services on Saturday afternoon. Mike was out first thing Monday morning, secured the column, and had it replaced by the time I was home from work Monday afternoon! Stellar service, and will recommend every time I get the opportunity.

Bishop Construction Services helped with the remodel of our condo. The original contract who the condo association was fired from our job due to many issues. Michael and his team jumped in with both feet and were the best to work with. Michael always made himself available, there were no hidden costs, and the project was completed on time and on budget. Bishop Construction was incredibly professional and considerate. Despite the demolition needed, they kept everything very clean so we could continue to use the space without worrying about our children or pets.

When I met Michael, my project was floundering with delays, underground plumbing that had been placed but no idea if they would ever pour my slab. The most difficult part was trying to find a contractor who would be willing to take on the challenge of finishing a project with no direction or end in sight.

Looking for a glimpse of hope, Michael gladly took on the project and reassured me that we would get it done. With hard work and determination he did it, and surpassed my wildest expectations. All along, his main concerns were the homeowners satisfaction and the quality of his work.

You would be hard-pressed to find someone as honest and dedicated as Michael and if you were to ask me if you should use Bishop Construction Services Inc. for a new build or renovation, I would respond with a resounding “YES!” to all the above.

I am writing about our experience with Michael Bishop.  We hired him to replace our outside staircase into our guest house.   But before the County would approve the stairs we had to replace our septic tank and drain field.  The previous owners of our home took out permits when they enlarged the house but never completed the work which included the septic and drain field.  So we had to do it. Michael took charge of this for us and dealt with the county on our behalf, keeping us up to date and never leaving us in the dark.  Since the County took several months to approve things, Michael hung in there with us. Finally Michael arranged with the county and Nokomis Septic to do the work and once the septic and drain field were put in and up to code, we got our stairs built. And he did an awesome job on the stairs.  They were exactly what we wanted. He even went back to the county and made sure the old permits were closed so we would not have a problem in the future.

In this day and age it is hard to find someone who will hang in there with you during the process of getting something done.  Now that this project is done, I will definitely use Michael again for our next project.
